How Do I Use the WinZip Utility in Windows 2000 or Earlier?

Description

We use zipped files for our ebook(s) as a solution to reducing download time. If you are using Windows 2000 or earlier, you'll need the WinZip utility to open and use zipped files.

WinZip compresses files to save space. It allows you to compress a single file or compress many files into a single file. This makes downloading files from the Internet faster, and allows software distributors to put more files on a distribution media, such as a CD's. Most zipped files end with the .zip extension.

Procedure for Windows 2000 or Earlier

Use the following instructions to download, and install WinZip to unzip a file. To determine if WinZip is already installed on your computer, click Start > Programs, and look for the WinZip program.
